The Story Behind Sand + Salt
Sand + Salt is rooted in a love for the coastline and the beachy-chic spirit of Eastern Long Island; sophisticated and salty, with an effortless way of life shaped by the sea.
Created in 2023, Sand + Salt offers handcrafted jewelry made from freshwater pearls, natural gemstones, and high-quality gold-filled and gold vermeil materials. Each piece is designed to feel elevated but easy; for beach days, dockside dinner reservations, and everywhere in between.
And jewelry is just the beginning. Sand + Salt is slowly growing into a curated coastal lifestyle brand, with jewelry dishes and art prints coming first, and plans for apparel, accessories, and more down the line.
As a woman-owned small business, every order is thoughtfully made and packed with intention, and 5% of every sale is donated to ocean conservation efforts.

The Process
Sand + Salt jewelry is handcrafted in small batches using freshwater pearls, natural gemstones, and high-quality gold-filled and gold vermeil materials. From selecting and arranging materials to cutting chain, wire wrapping, and adding finishing welds, every piece passes through my hands before making its way to yours.
Selecting Materials
Every piece begins with the materials. I source freshwater pearls, natural gemstones, and high-quality gold-filled and gold vermeil components, selecting each for its color, texture, quality, and how it works within the design.
Designing + Building
Most designs begin with an idea inspired by coastal fashion, a particular material, or simply experimenting at my worktable. Depending on the design, the process may involve selecting and arranging beads, measuring and cutting chain, wire-wrapping, stringing, assembling, and making adjustments until the piece looks and feels just right. Many designs go through several versions before becoming part of a Sand + Salt collection.
Micro-Welding
For designs with jump rings, I use a small jewelry micro-welder (like the kind used for permanent jewelry) to create secure, precise connections between components. This allows me to finish delicate pieces cleanly and strengthen connections without traditional soldering or metalworking.
Giving Back
The coast is at the heart of Sand + Salt. That’s why 5% of every item sold is donated to organizations working to protect our oceans, coastlines, and marine life.
